Robin Kneebone v Gary Trudeau
County Shield 2013/14
The Modern Benoni is an opening in which black is prepared to tolerate structural deficiencies in return for activity. In this game black's position becomes passive early on and he finds it difficult to counter white's space advantage.
20.Bf2 is sensible; watching for cheapos took black a lot of time
20...Nxe4 21.Ncxe4 f5 22.Nxd6 Rxe3 23.N2c4 doesn't work (the Re3 has no squares!), but the looseness of the Be3 is a constant problem for several moves 23...Re7 (23...Nb6 24.Nxb6 Qxb6 25.Nc4 Qb3 26.Nxe3 Qxe3+) 24.Nxf5 gxf5 25.d6
23.Nc4 Not sure why I did not play this. Perhaps I had not realised he could no longer play ...b5. But Kh2 is equally good (Fritz)
The remaining moves were not recorded
