No.9: Hedley Shirley (1960)

Hedley Shirley v AJ Sherlock

Correspondence (BCCA Premier A), 1948

Like his father, Max Shirley, who was a familiar figure at the Camborne club for many years, Hedley Shirley taught at Cornwall College (then known as Cornwall Technical College) at Pool, being responsible for getting a number of present-day chessplayers through their chemistry "A" Level. From the late 1950s to the early 1970s, along with Arthur Busby, he was Camborne's leading player.
